We made it through winter! Well, “winter” for me since I’m in Los Angeles, but still. Spring is here, and so are a bunch of new makeup trends. While I love a vampy winter lip, I’m happy to try out new trends and new products, so let’s talk about what’s coming up.

Purple and pink eyeshadow
Color is going to be way in this spring, and you can expect to see a lot of purple and pink on the eyes. Ultraviolet is the Pantone color of the year, after all. Purple is a great way to add color to your makeup without being too overwhelming, as long as you find the right shade for your skin tone. It will especially flatter brown eyes.
Pink can be a tricky color to wear on the eyes – if you choose the wrong shade, it can make you look tired or sick. Try sticking with either a soft, pastel pink or opt for a bolder, bright pink for contrast. Millennial pink is totally in.

No-makeup makeup
Any trend that takes less time to achieve is okay by me. Natural-looking makeup is going to be in style forever but is sure to be seen more often as the weather warms up. No one wants full-coverage foundation and the whole nine yards melting off their face in the heat, right?
To achieve this look, try using a BB or CC cream in lieu of your regular foundation. Even better, just spot conceal where you need to! Opt for a natural pink or berry blush and a dewy highlighter – creams or gels work best. Groomed, imperfect, brushed up brows look great with natural looks, and keep the eyes mostly bare, with just a touch of mascara and shimmer on the inner corners. Finish the look with some lip balm or a sheer gloss for some natural shine!

Interesting eyeliner
There were a lot of interesting eyeliner looks on the runway for spring. Some of them may seem like too much for everyday looks, but I think they’ll be fun to play around with!
Winged liner of both intense and subtle varieties were popular on the runway. Channel your inner Cleopatra and experiment with some cat-eye action. You can keep it subtle, or make it as dramatic as you’d like. You can check out this post from a few months ago where Alyson discusses the spring winged liner trends more in-depth.
White eyeliner is also going to be popping up more and serves as a fresher alternative to black. You can use it over eyeshadow as a contrast, or use it alone to brighten up the eyes. Using white liner on the lower waterline or lower lash line will make the eyes appear larger, almost doll-like.
If you dare, you can venture into the world of graphic eyeliner. Graphic liner adds a cool-girl, editorial edge to your look. Start out by adding on to a classic winged liner, and work your way up to different lines and shapes.

Pops of color
Color always seems more appropriate in the warmer months but can be super intimidating if you’re not used to it. Incorporating pops of color here and there in your look is a great way to venture into the rainbow world, without getting overwhelmed.
Try sweeping a bright eyeshadow along the lower lash line for an instant pop of color, or opt for a bright and bold lip to go with an otherwise neutral look.
