Let’s go bold and bright for festival season.
With music festival season right around the corner, I’ve been thinking of all the bold makeup trends I can try. On a normal day, I keep my makeup pretty basic – a little bit of bronzer, a little bit of highlight, and always, always some combination of brown eyeshadows. So, when it comes to bright colors, I most definitely get intimidated. But I figured it was time to get over my fear of bright colors… and I loved the result.
BASE
For my base, I kept everything simple. I knew my eyeshadow would be really bright, so I wanted my skin to look very glowy and natural.
EYES
Before applying any eyeshadow, I made sure to use a good eyeshadow primer. I hate when my eyeshadow goes muddy or creases, so using an eyeshadow primer is a necessity.
For this look, I used the Colourpop Dream St. Palette. I was really drawn to the shade Spark because of how neon it looked. This palette also has really great transition shades that I could use for blending out the shadows.

To start, I used the shade Shooting Star on a fluffy brush above my crease to create a space for transitioning shades. I don’t normally venture far outside of my crease with eyeshadow, but with hooded eyelids, I needed to blend a little farther for the bright shadows to really pop!

Then, I went in with the shade Spark all over the lid. The color wasn’t bright enough when applied with a brush, so I packed more of Spark on with my finger.

For my lower lash line, I used the shade Mermaid Boy and smudged it out. To connect my upper lid and bottom lash line, I blended Water Bearer into my outer corner. This created a super smokey vibe!

To brighten my inner corner, I used the shade Kaleidoscope in my tear duct. To finish, add your favorite mascara and/or falsies!
LIPS
I kept the lips basic so they didn’t distract from the eyeshadow. I went with a nude gloss that I knew would wear off gracefully (perfect for a long day at a festival!).
FACE
I did my usual bronzer and blush for simplicity. Then for highlight, I packed on Becca’s Opal on all the high points of my face. I love using this champagne, shimmery highlight for “going-out” makeup. After you’re finished, don’t forget to set your makeup with a setting spray!
