Our ultimate skincare goal is to get to the point where we no longer need makeup to cover our imperfections. But until then, we’ll just have to resort to finding the best makeup products that’ll make our skin look perfect. In an area where most women wear natural makeup on a daily basis, we also think it’s important that the products we use to perfect our base look like second skin too.
So you can imagine my delight when the new Clarins SOS Primers arrived at my door. There are 6 types of SOS Primers, each one targeting a beauty concern for a more flawless complexion.
00 Universal Light: boosts radiance; great for cheeks, bridge of nose, and above brows
01 Rose: minimizes signs of fatigue; great for under eyes
02 Peach: blurs imperfections; great for chin and forehead
03 Coral: visibly minimizes dark spots; great for chin and upper lip
04 Green: diminishes redness; great for cheeks
05 Lavender: visibly brightens sallow skin; great for chin, below cheekbones, and forehead

My skin isn’t one shade with imperfections all over, so I love that I can pick and choose what primer to use depending on my skin’s needs. I ended up choosing a radiance primer to help boost my dull winter skin and peach to blur out my hyperpigmentation.
How to wear them:
Apply before foundation as a makeup base
As a targeted corrector (i.e. under eyes, on cheeks, around the chin, etc) or use multiple primers for each area of concern
Mix 00 Universal Light with your foundation

Here’s how I wear them:
Since my skin is quite oily, I only applied the Universal Light primer where I want a glow (similar to a highlighter) on the cheeks and down the bridge of my nose.
With the Peach, I applied it around my chin, where I get a lot of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

The Result
The effect of Universal Light is really subtle and effortless – it looks like a lit from within glow, which I think is so pretty for a daily makeup look. Peach also seemed to brighten and lift the areas of my face where I have hyperpigmentation. These oil-free primers blend really easily and sets within minutes to prime my skin for long-lasting makeup.
By using these two shades, I found that all I needed was a thin layer of foundation (I usually need more!) and my skin was left dewy (where I wanted it), youthful, and natural looking.
Available in 6 shades at $39 at Clarins (currently 25% off!), Nordstrom, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
