I’m a hard cookie to please when it comes to subscription services.  Having worked for one for a couple years, I’d like to say I’m pretty knowledgable when it comes to makeup subscriptions.

For $10 a month, Lip Monthly is a new subscription company that promises to include 4-5 makeup products that will feature some lip products.  There are different plans available, depending on how many boxes you’d like to receive in the future.

August was the first month where they included a cosmetic bag like ipsy, but unfortunately they used the same bag again in September.  Not sure if this was for all customers, but definitely unfortunate for those who were subscribed in August.  The bag wasn’t particularly good quality, so I’ll be throwing this bag away.

My bag included Cherimoya Retractable Lip & Eye Liner in Latte 24, Eco Lips Hemp Chapstick in Kiwi-Strawberry, JulieG Nail Color, Cherimoya Lip Crayon in Fig, and Purlisse Hydra-Balance Moisturizer.

I’ve used the Purlisse Hydra-Balance Moisturizer in an old ipsy bag, so I was happy to see this product in there.  It’s a great moisturizer and I love taking these sizes with me on travel.

I was really disappointed in the nail polish shade selection.  Although the JulieG Nail Color is very pretty, I would have liked to see a more Fall forward shade.

The Eco Lips Hemp Chapstick in Strawberry smells very good and feels nice on the lips.  I can never have enough lip balms, so I’m excited to stick this one in my purse.

The Cherimoya Retractable Lip & Eye Liner in Latte 24 was very disappointing for me since it swatches very frosty.  I definitely wouldn’t use it as an eyeliner or lip pencil.  Would have been nice to have a more neutral color that appeals to all types of skin tones.

My favorite out of the box has to be the Lip Crayon in Fig.  It reminds me of the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Crayons and the shade is really pretty.  It dries down matte, which is perfect for Fall.

All in all, I wasn’t amazed by the box.  It retails more than $10, but there’s still room for lots of improvement.  As a young company, I can understand that they may be getting a handle on certain things, so I’m hopeful they will continue to improve on their product selection.
