I used to think Valentine’s Day makeup had to be dramatic, sexy and smoky. I know better now – Valentine’s Day makeup can also be soft, natural and pretty, especially for daytime. Let me share a super simple, rose gold Valentine’s Day makeup look, perfect for a daytime date. And my friends, this date can be with a significant other, friend, or a solo date. Self-love is the most important kind of love, in my humble opinion.

EYES
I used the Naked Palette from Urban Decay (the shade Naked) for my crease shade. Any matte crease color will do! I applied the shade softly throughout the crease with a blending brush, just to create a bit of dimension. If you have monolids or hooded eyes like I do, make sure to bring this shade up slightly above your natural crease.
Next, I applied the Super Shock Shadow in La La from ColourPop all over my lids with a finger. This color is a gorgeous, metallic coppery rose gold.
After applying La La, I went back in with the same blending brush I used for the crease color and blended the two together.

Next, I applied Skinny Dip Highlighter by Jouer, a shimmery golden peach shade, on the inner corners of my eyes with a pencil brush. You can use a highlighter or eyeshadow, whichever you have on deck. This will open up and brighten the eyes nicely. I also sprayed my brush with a setting spray and applied the same highlighter wet underneath the eyes. I love doing this to open up the eyes even further.
Eyeliner was skipped altogether because I wanted this look to remain really youthful and fresh, but eyeliner can be added here. Next up is to give the lashes a good curl and apply your favorite mascara to the top lashes. For me, that’s the Voluminous Original Mascara from L’Oreal. Applying mascara to just the top lashes, again, opens up the eyes, which is what I wanted to focus on. I skipped falsies, but think individual lashes would add a nice touch.

FACE
After my every day base routine, I went in with Satin Touch Blush in Satin Love from Essence. I tend to go for peachy blushes over pink ones, but for this look I wanted my cheeks to look nice and rosy. This blush from Essence is a warm pink, and works well with the warm, rose gold tones on the eyes.
For my highlight, I tied in the eye look by using the same highlighter from Jouer. I used a brush to apply the highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones, Cupid’s bow and down the bridge of my nose. When it comes to fresh looks like this, the more glow, the better.
LIPS
I wanted to go with a pinky coral on my lips so I used the Color Sensational Inti-Matte Nudes Lipstick in Naked Coral from Maybelline. Colors like this are great for lighter, glowy looks like this, and a matte formula will stand up to kisses and lots of chocolates.

La La is one of my favorite Super Shock Shadows from Colourpop! Love how it looks on your skin tone.
