Sit back, relax and let Meetra take care of your skin.
If you live in the San Francisco area, choosing a hair stylist or esthetician can be tricky. There are so many popping up, so how do you know which to choose? Is it the right price? Where is it located? Are the stylists and estheticians experienced with my type of skin or hair?
In May, I was invited to attend Samitra’s anniversary party and was eager to check out this salon that’s conveniently located in SoMa. Hearing about this salon was a first for me, but by the looks of it and its reviews on Yelp, I thought it was worth checking out. Based on its location, it’s a popular salon with employees in the tech industry (i.e. Twitter, Uber, etc).
This salon is a boutique, invite-only salon that caters to its clients and creates an experience where you’ll feel relaxed and unrushed. Owners Meetra and Samera have over 2o years of experience in the beauty industry and offer a full range of personalized hair and skin care services in a relaxing setting.

The Process
The salon is quite small and can only fit a handful of people at a time. There’s only one facial room and only two chairs for hair, which gives a quiet and relaxed vibe when you’re at Samitra. I met with Meetra and upon arrival, she immediately offered me a glass of water while we talked about what my concerns were. The facial room was dark, but also really relaxing (I fell asleep a couple times throughout the treatment!). I ended up getting a customized facial from Meetra, where she thoroughly cleansed and extracted my skin with a concoction of products. The treatment ended with something I’ve never had done before: light therapy – green, red, and blue – to help with scarring, anti-aging, and acne.
The Results
Although my skin felt more moisturized and my pores look clearer, Meetra advised that I probably wouldn’t see results from the light therapy for another few weeks – and she was right. She helped soothe the existing acne with salicylic acid and Vitamin C, but fast forward 4 weeks later and my skin is noticeably clearer!
The Bottom Line
I can only base my experience on the skincare services, but Meetra is very knowledgeable about skincare and giving facials. With the type of facials she gives, I recommend getting a series of treatments from her so that she can assess your skin and find what works best for you. The light therapy worked wonders on my skin, but this type of treatment needs to be maintained monthly, so if you’re looking for a place to maintain or improve your skin regularly, this is the place for you.
The prices are also little higher than what I’m used to, but you are paying for the location and the amount of attention you are receiving. Meetra took her time with me and I noticed that Samera did the same with her hair clients too. For anyone who works in the SoMa area, this salon is super easy to get to.
