I have a bit of an important topic to speak about today, especially during a time when the sun is at its peak.
I feel pretty strongly about this topic after reading a crazy statistic about skin cancer and I think it’s something I should share with you.
I’ll be the first to say that I JUST started wearing sunscreen daily this year and even though I’m particularly tan as is, wearing a sun screen still protects my skin from dark spots and most importantly, cancer.
As much as tanning beds may be a quick fix to get tanner this summer, it is now illegal for minors to use tanning beds in 11 states and it’s all because you can increase your risk of skin cancer by 59% with frequent exposure to UV rays. Yup, 59%! (It also increases with each tanning bed visit). The FDA and dermatologists are emphasizing the dangers of tanning beds and hope to ban them some day.
