Just like my hair, I don’t get to try crazy makeup trends, but during festival season, I feel the sudden urge to get out of my comfort zone and try something fun but not over the top. My inner wannabe makeup artist comes out! However, because I’m constantly meeting people and networking for my blog, business and pleasure can sometimes overlap, so I need makeup looks that are trendy, but wearable at the same time. So if you’re like me and you want to be a tiny bit more adventureous with your makeup, but not over the top, keep reading!
Go Neon
If there’s one thing I learned about doing my makeup at festivals, it’s to put more emphasis on the lips. Last time, I went all out with my eye makeup – glitter, falsies, etc and quickly discovered that it was a huge waste of time. I wear sunglasses most of the time at festivals, so it’s more practical to play with color on the lips. So to go with the Coachella dessert vibe, I went for some neon lipsticks from the new Estee Lauder Pure Color Love Lipsticks collection. You can also layer the chrome tones on top of the brights to create a custom shade!

Glitter Lips
Glitter lips are a trend that I first started seeing on the runways (Fendi Spring 2017) and now, I’m seeing more people wearing them out! To make this trend wearable, choose a medium to dark lipstick shade and pair it with a matching glitter. This way, it accentuates the color and makes it more interesting without looking like a disco ball.
I chose a super fine glitter and it turned my lipstick shade to a metallic finish instead of glittery, so I would choose a medium grit glitter so that the glitter is more visible. NYX has some great inexpensive glitter that you can pair with a glitter glue.

Glitter Strobing
With the unicorn craze going on, take your highlighter to the next level with glitter. Feel free to play with different textures of glitters and mix them too! Make sure to apply a cream or some sort of sticky base for the glitter to stick to. I mixed a cream highlighter and then applied a glitter on top. The glitter isn’t translating in pictures, but trust me, it was really pretty in person. 🙂
