Who else is sad that this is the last long weekend of Summer?
Fall is eminent and it’s time to start thinking about your Fall/Winter skincare, especially with El Nino coming up (for all you California folks)!
In the South Bay, we’re lucky to get a little more sunshine than San Francisco, but even if it is dreary and foggy out there, it’s important to remember to protect your skin from the sun. For days when you don’t see the sun, your skin is still absorbing harmful UVA rays, which have the power to cause skin cancer.

It’s also important to switch out your lighter moisturizers for more richer ones. As the weather gets colder, your skin can become more dry, and keeping your skin hydrated is one way to keep your skin happy.

Last but not least, my favorite step in my year round skincare routine…exfoliation. To slough off dead skin cells that can cause skin dullness (and breakouts), try to exfoliate at least once a week. I use Clarisonic to help cleanse my pores on a daily basis, but this Mario Badescu exfoliator is one of the most gentle exfoliators I’ve used (the beads are really mellow) and for days when you want something stronger, the philosophy Microdelivery Dual-Phase Peel is ah-mazing.

Aaaaand if you want something even more effective, paying your dermatologist a visit for a recommended skin care routine or getting a medical grade facial might just do the trick. My skin hasn’t been too happy lately so I visited my local medspa recently, Allura Skin & Laser Center, for a deep cleanse and exfoliation (more on that in another post) and already, my skin is looking SO much better!
What are some of your skin care tips as we transition into another season?

I’m really sad that summer will soon be behind us. I really do love fall, but fall always seems so short lived, then comes along winter… which feels like it lasts for 8 months at a time. I definitely need to switch out my skin care routine for the coming months, because my skin gets so so so dry!

Whenever the weather changes drastically, my skin goes cray too! It’s usually combination oily, and then it turns dry for a short amount of time to adjust. Gotta prepare with the right moisturizer!

I use EltaMD (which I love), but have heard great things about Kiehl’s and Coola. They’re both SPF products- what is the difference b/w the 2, and which do you prefer? I ove the EltaMD b/c it provides great sun protection, but is the only SPF product that doesn’t feel greasy on my skin.
Also, how do you like the Ultra Facial Cream?
The Beauty Vanity says
I love love love Kiehl’s products and the sunscreen is really light and non greasy too. The Ultra Facial Cream is AMAZING if you have dry to dry combination skin.
When I’m lazy I like to use the Kiehl’s makeup setting spray, all I have to do is spray it on after makeup and my face is all protected!
Hope that helps! xx

Thanks for the reply! Are you referring to the Ultra Facial Cream or the Ultra Facial SPF30?
