(my skin post peel with just a tinted moisturizer)
So today’s topic is something a little serious and personal for me, but I’m hoping that some of you can relate. I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about my struggle with acne so many times on my blog and at 29, I’ve become so fed up with it. I know on my blog it may not seem like I have any skin problems, but I’m lucky that makeup can cover a majority of it.
I’ve been dealing with cystic acne since middle school and at its peak, Accutane was the only thing that helped. It cleared up my skin for at least 3 years but as I got older, the acne started to come back. The state of my skin yo-yos depending on my hormones and I’m faced with the same problems: black and whiteheads mixed with cystic acne.
Over the counter products seem to help a little bit and getting facials do too! Earlier this year, I wrote about my experience getting my first peel and I absolutely loved it. It helped with the scarring and it gave me a little hope thinking my acne could maybe subside.
Unfortunately, the acne slowly came back again and this time, I decided to get help and I can’t thank Allura Skin & Laser Center enough. Dermatologists are there when you need them, including other experienced skincare professionals. During my skin consultation, they were able to pinpoint what was causing my acne and came up with a game plan to help tame the problem.
At my age, I can blame my acne on my hormones, but because of the seriousness of taking Accutane again, we all decided to see how a couple rounds of salicylic acid peels could help with my acne. If not, then we’ll explore Accutane.
I’m happy to say my skin is looking better and my scarring has faded a ton. My skin didn’t peel as much as my last one, but I could tell a slight difference with the texture of my skin. I’m looking forward to see how my skin will react with my next peel and I’m hoping things will get better.
In all seriousness, I’m writing this post today hoping that it can help some of you who are suffering with adult acne like me. At this point in my life, I thought I’d be done with acne and that using products from the drugstore and department store would be a good enough solution, but I think it’s important to also explore other options and get help from dermatologists like the ones from Allura Skin & Laser Center.
I’ll continue you to bring you along as I try “fix” my skin problems and I hope some of you find my post helpful.

Good luck girl, just know you’re not alone! I’ve been dealing with adult acne as well as it’s painful, obnoxious and really makes me feel like shit when I’m traveling and with clients. Thanks for sharing your story! xx, adaatude.com
