I think sometimes people forget that you can wear red casually – you don’t have to be dolled up to wear it! In fact, my favorite way to wear a red lipstick is with a casual outfit that looks effortless. I kept my makeup here fairly minimal, only enhancing my features with just a few products.
The products I used were:
FACE: bareMinerals bareSkin Foundation and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
CHEEKS: NARS Laguna Bronzer
EYES: NARS Laguna Bronzer as the eyeshadow, Starlooks Liquid Eye Liner, L’Oreal False Fiber Lashes Mascara, and Virgin from the UD Naked Palette in the inner corners.
LIPS: Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in #111
That’s it! The Rimmel lipstick really elevates an otherwise simple makeup look and it’s a quick way to look a little bit dressier when you’re in a pinch.

I think you did a great job–you always do–but red lips don’t look casual to me. Not saying they don’t look good with a casual outfit. But they’re just so noticeable that it’s hard to not stand out with a red lip, especially when done so well. FYI — I think you look amazing in the MUA plum lip color you wore on the blog last week. I’m stopping at CVS today so I hope they have it in stores.
I hope you find the MUA lip gloss, last time I was at my local CVS, a lot of stuff was sold out.
I agree with you that red stands out, but there are tons of shades, textures, and finishes! I think a sheer oxblood red gloss would look gorgeous on you! You just gotta find one that you’re comfortable with wearing and what suits your lifestyle. Lmk if you ever wanna go makeup shopping!! 🙂
