So I’ve never tried a Bite Lipstick.
*GASP*
That’s exactly the reaction I got when I went to the opening of the Bite Beauty Lip Lab in SF. No joke.

I had no expectations when I arrived, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out we were going to make custom lipsticks. I’ve never done that before! At the Bite Lip Lab, you have two options:
Custom Lipstick: 1 for $55 or 2 $80
For a Custom Lipstick, you choose a set shade + finish + scent of your choice.
Bespoke Lipstick: 2 for $150
For a Bespoke Lipstick, you customize a lip shade completely + finish + scent.
Before we started to try on the lipsticks, I prepped my lips by using Agave Lip Scrub and then the Agave Lip Balm. Both were so moisturizing on my very dry lips. I actually fell in love with their Lip Mask, which I’ve been using every night since!

With a Lip Lab Artist, you work with her to make a custom lipstick shade. At each step of the way, you try on the lipstick to make sure it’s exactly what you want. My advice is to be specific as possible with the color. Do you want a warm nude? A coral nude? A cool pink nude? A brown nude? You get the idea.
At first, I wanted a Kim K nude lip shade, which is why I tried on about 5 nude lip colors before I ended up with the complete opposite.
You also get to choose what type of finish you want your lipstick to have. I didn’t want a matte or sheer lipstick, so I chose the Amuse Bouche finish, which felt like a moisturizing cream lipstick.
In case you’re interested, I chose a beet shade in #523 in the Amuse Bouche finish with a coconut scent (which might be similar to Beetroot or Radish).

After finalizing my lipstick, the Lip Lab Artist made the lipstick bullet (which took about 10 minutes) and I was all done! All in all, I’d say it took me about 30-ish minutes from start to finish.
It says on the website that walk-ins are welcome, but I’d recommend making an appointment, especially if you’re going with a group. I’d also try to come during the day so that you can try and see the lipstick shade in its truest color. It’s a bit pricey to create a custom lipstick and I normally wouldn’t spend that amount on a lipstick, but it’s a fun experience to go with girlfriends or even your mom!

Gorgeous! I’ve seen some other gals getting a chance to do this and it’s awesome! I totally would be making my person brown nude!

The closest thing I got to a brown nude was #120, but they had a buuunch of pinky nudes.
