I have two goals in my nighttime routine: remove all traces of makeup and do anything possible to reduce acne scaring. I’m still trying to fill in the holes in other parts of my skincare routine, but these three products have never let me down.
Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover: I’m not a makeup wipe type of girl. Maybe when I’m on vacation, I’ll occasionally use a wipe, but for the most part, I enjoy properly cleansing my skin at night – it’s theraputic and relaxes me. I’ve tried cleansers in the past that claimed to help with acne or anti-aging, but when it came time to use my toner, it picked up so much makeup and so much dirt…did I really cleanse my face? I saw this cleanser at the store and what drew me most was the fact that it said “Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover.” The first time I used it, I was amazed with how much makeup it removed (even WATERPROOF mascara) and my toner did not pick up any traces of makeup left on my face. From that moment on, I was sold.
DDF Glycolic Toning Complex: I cannot live without this toner. Period. I love any glycolic type product, especially if I can feel a little prickly sensation as you apply. I can instantly feel it working and it leaves my skin feeling clean with a minty and tingly sensation. This helped refine my skin texture immensely by diminishing pore size and it helped fade my acne scaring too. Another bonus? It removes every bit of grime on your skin left from cleansing. If you have sensitive skin, this product may not be for you – it burns just a tad (but I like it! hahah).
Lancome ‘DreamTone’ Customized Skin Tone Correcting Serum: I scar pretty badly and what sucks even more is that I tend to breakout around that time of the month and I spend the rest of the month trying to tone down the scarring before it starts all over again…this is where Lancome DreamTone comes in. I use this right after using my toner and my skin soaks it all up. I use the Dark serum, which is peachy-toned (I think it helps counteract the darkness in the scars) and pearlescent. The scent is also lovely! I’ve been using DreamTone for about a month and half now and my acne scars look lighter. I mean the results aren’t overnight, so a little patience is much needed.
