If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already saw that I met Aimee from Song of Style this weekend!

Formula X is releasing 10 collections this year; one ColorCurator per month showing off their signature style through nail polishes, with the first one being from Aimee.  In her collection are three shades: Mintfluencer, A Girl’s Best Friend, and Nude For You.

She’s a force to be reckoned with in the fashion space, and ever since she was based out of San Francisco, I admired her for her killer style.  Since her SF days, she’s blown up and I was super stoked to have a chance to chat with her before her event at Sephora Powell this past weekend.

We talked about her most-reached-for shade at the moment (A Girl’s Best Friend!) to her favorite places to visit whenever she’s in SF (North Beach and Tartine Bakery in the Mission).

Her everyday exposure to different textures and textiles in interior design and fashion led her to create these three Spring-forward shades.  She explained to me that Mintfluencer was created for a bit of fun while Nude For You was created for the tanner ladies who struggle to find the perfect nude polish (can I get an amen!?).

[/one_half] [one_half_last padding=”0 0px 0 5px”][/one_half_last]I personally favor creamy opaque nail polishes over the shimmers, so I knew I’d enjoy trying these shades.  Rather than the typical fuchsia’s or red’s, I really appreciate the playfulness in the colors that Aimee chose.  Just like makeup and fashion, we both agree that nail polish is just another extension of your personal style.

So what did I think of the nail polish?

Although I loved the finish of the nail polish, the consistency was a bit thicker to what I was used to.  Between each coat, I found that shaking the bottle helped with a more smooth and even application.  Nude For You and Mintfluencer just needed two coats for maximum opacity on my nails, while A Girl’s Best Friend required three.  The brush was also easy to work with to create crisp and clean edges.
