Now that I’ve told you how I choose an outfit for an office holiday party, let’s talk about my favorite subject: makeup.
Since I typically wear my glasses during the day, I choose products that are easy to apply (duh), office appropriate, and long-lasting. When I’m in work mode, the last thing I want to be doing is fussing about my makeup!
OFFICE DAY MAKEUP
Base
Choose a base that is buildable and fits well with your skin type.
If I know I’m going to be taking pictures, I like to wear foundations that has medium coverage without an SPF and I choose a primer with a mattifying element. My skin is combination, so my skin is comfortable wearing mattifying (plus they last longer on me) products. If you’re on the dryer side, I like the L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation and the Maybelline Fit me Dewy + Smooth. Also forgot to tell you that if you wear glasses like me, try to apply a really really thin layer around the bridge of your nose where your glasses sit. I hate it when I see foundation build up in that area!
For my concealer, I don’t want anything too dramatic, so I chose a concealer that’s a few shades lighter than my skin tone to hide my dark circles and to slightly highlight my face.
I also like to let my foundation sit and sink into my skin for 5 min or so before I use powder.

Eyebrows
For long-lasting brows, I always reach for a brow pomade or cream like this one. It can be a bit dramatic, but if you apply it with a light hand, it’s so beautiful to wear at events and I don’t have to worry about my eyebrows fading. I also like to apply a brow mascara to keep all my hairs in place. In this look, I used Benefit ka-BROW!

Eyes
I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to everyday or office makeup and I’ve raved about how much I LOVE the Korres Twist Eyeshadow (watch this video). It lasts all day, it’s so easy to apply (no brushes needed, you can use your finger to blend!), and the color isn’t too light or dramatic for my skin tone. All I did was smudge it all over the lids and along my bottom lash line.
I’ve tried a lot of liquid eyeliners in the past and nothing compares to this NYC Liquid Eye Liner (it’s SUCH a bargain). I find that the brush tip makes it easy for me to wing out my liner and it does not smudge on my hooded lids at all. My lids get sweaty and at the end of the day, it’s still there. I also dotted the liner along my lower lash line since I didn’t want to deal with a pencil eyeliner running down my face.
I applied a few coats of the new L’Oréal Voluminous Feline Mascara on my upper and lower lashes and I was all done with my eyes.

Lips/Cheeks
After bronzing/contouring and slightly highlighting my face, I used this Lilah B. Lip & Cheek Divine Duo (in b. fearless) on my lips and face. I love multi-purpose products when I’m on the go.

This day look is super easy peasy and took me about 15 minutes to do. I love that even if I wear my glasses, I can still see my eye makeup peaking through.
So work is all done and now it’s time to head to the party. I don’t like to carry many touch-up makeup products with me, but these ones I find are really effective!
OFFICE PARTY MAKEUP
Base
I used the same powder as before to touch up my foundation. Since the Maybelline Fit Me foundation lasted long on my skin, there wasn’t a lot of touching up to do.

Eyes
The eyeshadow and eyeliner should be in good condition, but I added a black liner to my waterline for a bit more drama. I’ve talked about this on my Instagram, but this Flirt Cosmetics False Applicator is a great tool to keep with you in your handbag right before a party. The falsies are in the applicator, so all you have to do is scroll up and the lashes will come out at the tip. You glue the base and the applicator helps to lay down the falsies. The applicator keeps the lashes protected in one place so I don’t have to carry a case of lashes with me. Add a bit of mascara to blend your falsies and natural lashes together and done!

Cheeks/Lips
I added a bit of highlighter on my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose for some extra glow. I think it’s especially pretty in pictures and I really like the Colourpop highlighter in Wisp because it isn’t too dramatic.
The MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Sculpting Lip is also really easy to apply since it comes in stick form. This product has two ends, one for the lipstick, and a sponge tip filled with shimmer. Great if you want to change up the color by adding it to the center of your lips. Super fun for the holiday season and another easy way to update your look!

With the right products and preparation, it’s so easy to take your office look from day to night.
HAIR
I get tons of ideas for everyday hairstyles on my Pinterest board, so I felt inspired to do a french twist pony. It’s super fast and I thought it’d be a fun twist on a pony for work. I gathered the top half of my hair and twisted it inwards. When I was happy with the placement, I placed about two bobby pins on each side, up and down, to make sure it was secure. Once I pinned it into place, I gathered all my hair into a low pony and that was it! If you want to get extra fancy, you can wrap your hair around your hair tie and pin it. 🙂

GLASSES
So I’ve also been getting a lot of questions about my glasses on social media and in person these past few weeks, so thank you! I got these glasses from JINS Eyewear, which is a Japanese eyewear brand. I got mine at the Valley Fair location in Santa Clara, but there are other locations in SF and LA. In case you’re wondering, I got the Classic U124 in Grey & Latte Swirl (yup I liked it so much, I got it in two colors). These prescription glasses are SUPER affordable (some start at $60!!!) and are made within 30 min. I’ve already convinced a bunch of my friends and family to try them because I’m impressed with the quality and price. They even fit better than my super luxe glasses!
