It’s the season to bust out those bright lipsticks! This is the first of three series to show you how to wear bright lipsticks this Summer. Let’s be real, they can look really scary. So here’s the rundown on how to wear it and what type of brights to choose.
Prime: Before you go swiping away, it’s super important to prep your lips to rock this bold look. First things first: I cannot stress this enough – moisturize! You want to get all the cracked bits off your lips so they look plump and smooth with your lipstick on. There are some great lip scrubs out there (truly, they’re mind blowing) or just a good old towel rub on your lips will do the trick after your lips have been moisturizing for at least 10 minutes. If your lipstick tends to bleed, try a primer or lip pencil to keep your color fresh as long as possible.
Precision: No one wants to look like a clown. While it’s super easy to swipe on a lipstick, it’s not easy getting the color on perfectly crisp. If you don’t have a matching lipliner, use a small lip brush to make sure your lips look even. The lip brush also helps your color last longer since it really pushes the pigment into your lips.
If you want to know what hue to choose, check back for tomorrow’s post – stay tuned!

I’ve tried – and failed – wearing a bright pink lip and it just never looks bright enough. Have given up and just wear red now, so looking forward to reading tomorrow’s post.
