Around this time of year, my skin starts to look a little dull…my summer tan is long gone and it just looks (for the lack of a better word)…meh.
I’ve been adding more highlighter lately, but to boost up my complexion even more, I’ve been adding one pump of the Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer to my foundation. It complements my foundation perfectly since it’s on the warmer side and lightens up my foundation ever so slightly (MUFE HD 153 is too dark for me at the moment). The end result is slightly glowy without looking like a grease ball. It’s that perfect winter perk-up that will leave people wondering what’s different about you (in the best way of course).
You can add any liquid highlighter to your foundation to get the same effect and if you have a luminizing primer like the Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer, that’ll work too.
For those who are on the more olive side, choose a luminizer that leans golden (i.e. BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone or Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer) and for those who are on the pinker side, choose cooler-toned luminizers like the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl.
I’m curious, what are your winter makeup perk-ups?

I hear good things about this one! I’m partial to Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector – super pretty on mah green skin – but lately I can’t get enough of NARS Albatross to highlight. Must have all the glow!

I really need to get that NARS highlighter too. I swoon every time I swatch it at the store…looooove that gold sheen!!! xx

Wow, your skin looks great in this picture! I’ve been thinking about using some illuminizers and now for sure. Currently, I am a big fan of nice bright pink blush in the winter, it goes well with my pale skin and brings some color back into my face!

Adding a bright pink blush is a great idea! My fave right now is the Hourglass Mood Exposure blush, which has a little bit of shimmer in it. I think you’d really like that color too! xx
Amber But Better says
Thanks for the recommendation! I have been wanting to try the Hourglass blushes.

Your skin looks stunning! I’m definitely going to have a look at the highlighters you mentioned because my skin tends to look dull in the winter too.

I don’t know what you mean, your skin looks radiant to me. But I do what you mean about things looking kind of lack luster during the winter
The Beauty Vanity says
It’s all thanks to the luminizer 😉
Oh to Be a Muse says
Yea, my skin is looking meh too. I’m wearing an illuminator as well, but would love to use that foundation primer!

You can get a sample at Sephora and see if you like it first 🙂
