Kiehl’s Apothecary Preparations
Continuing on the skincare train, I was invited to visit Kiehl’s in SF a few weeks ago to check out their new product launch, Kiehl’s Apothecary Preparations.
Whenever someone mentions skin care, I’m totally there and at 30, I’m willing to try anything when it comes to preserving my skin.
So what exactly happens in this consultation?
Everyone’s skin is different and at Kiehl’s, I sat down with an expert to talk about my concerns. We basically talked about lots of things that I’m sure you’ve heard me complain about (wrinkles and adult acne), but what I thought was interesting was that I had a chance to compare my own skin to a dermatologist-inspired Skin Atlas so there’s no confusion between you and the expert. In my mind, I like to think how awful my skin is, but seeing actual examples of different pore sizes or types of scarring, I was able to see how severe or not severe my concerns were.

The five main concerns we talked about were wrinkles, pore size, texture, brightening, and redness.
So for me, I told him that I needed something that was going to help with my acne and scarring.
In the end, we decided on the Brightening Complex and Texture Refining Complex. The Brightening Complex contains Vitamin C and Scotch Pine Extract to promote skin brightness and help skin defend itself from the environment that can cause unevenness, while the Texture Refining Complex contains Vitamin F and LHA to slough away dead skin cells for clearer skin and for hydration.

The texture of this concentrate is unlike anything I’ve tried before. I was expecting a lotion or gel texture, but this concentrate feels like a dry oil that absorbs immediately into the skin. It didn’t make my skin feel slick at all, but instead, made my skin feel moisturized and plump. I quite enjoy my skin being extra nourished and moisturized at night, so I’ve been using the Kiehl’s Apothecary Preparations at night so I can soak in all the benefits while I sleep.
Just note that these products are so highly concentrated, so the complexes must be added to the Skin Strengthening Concentrate right before use and just a few drops are all you need to cover your entire face.
