L’Oreal Pro Matte Foundation & Powder Swatches & Review
I have combination oily skin. At least I thought I did when I bought both of these new products from L’Oreal.
The new L’Oreal Pro-Matte range claims to provide a demi-matte finish with medium coverage, ideal for the girl who needs to blot midday.
What I noticed immediately with the foundation range were the yellow tones. I struggle to find good yellow-toned foundations, particularly in drugstores. As you can see, it’s pretty yellow and I even did a side by side comparison with my Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (my HG) in 153 and found it practically identical (LMK if any of you want me to do a post about that!). Finish is medium to full and would be a great option to wear for a night out.
However, notice that the blended swatch looks much darker than the initial swatch – something to keep in mind when you purchase the product. I suggest buying a shade slightly lighter than you’re used to.
Wear time was unexpected – It was almost too drying for me (what?!). With 99% of matte foundations, I’ll find myself needing to touch up and blot the excess oil in a couple hours…not with this one. It left my skin uber matte and at some points, made my skin look dry. Maybe it was the primer I was using or the change in seasons, not sure. But never have I had a foundation make my skin look dry-ish.
I went lighter with the powder since I wasn’t sure if it would oxidize. It works beautifully hand in hand with the foundation if you want to add a tiny bit more coverage to your face or as a touchup powder. I wouldn’t use the powder itself as a foundation since it doesn’t have great coverage on its own.
The L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and Powder retail for $12.99 and are available at your local drugstores, Ulta, Target, Walmart and Amazon.

I have very oily skin, but I’m not really a fan of matte foundations. I tried out the Hourglass one and had a very similar experience. It was clinging to non-existent dry patches around my temples, and looked like a mask. I’ve been debating about this one, but I much prefer a more natural appearance.

You have oily skin too?? Which foundations do you like? I’d love to try your suggestions, esp since you have oily skin too!

My favourite atm is the clinique acne solutions foundation. It doesn’t really do anything to help with my acne, but on a good day (re: no humidity or crazy warm temps), I can go a good 6-7 hours without blotting, which is amazing for me, since I’m normally a 3-4 hour person. For a lighter finish, I like the Dr. Jart Dis-a-pore BB cream, but the lack of colour options is very annoying.

I have the UK version of this foundation and love it! I know what you mean about the shades changing colour though, I got the second lightest and it was a perfect match when I applied it but 5 mins later I looked like an oompa-looma! Have you tried applying it with a damp beauty blender? I find that it kind of offsets the dryness of the foundation 🙂 I just wish they would bring the powder and setting spray over to the UK! xx

That’s so odd why it would change shade so significantly when blended!

I thought it was odd too! I try to mix in a little bit of a lighter foundation now.

AHHHH! I WANT THIS! Ever since its release in the US/UK, I’ve been dying to want to try this! I only own 2 matte foundations and totally need another! Again, this line of products isn’t sold here yet but I totally will be trying to order this online! Love that the line runs yellower actually and that it performs so well!

Thank you for doing this review!! I’ve been wanting to purchase this foundation for so long but I was slightly on the fence about it due to the colours. But because I use a MUFE HD foundation in 153, I kinda know what shade to purchase for this! Thanks for the heads up 😉
