Mani Monday with ModCloth

IMG_5037Ever since I started painting my nails, I’ve been a one shade wonder and have stuck with it.  I mean, painting a straight line is hard.  But with my Pinterest board filling up with beautiful nail art, it’s been something I’ve been getting more and more interested in.  So when ModCloth asked me to create a mani inspired by one of their many cute dresses, I thought, “Why not?”

In the Swing Dress caught my eye immediately since I knew it was a dress that I could dress up/dress down and most importantly, dress comfortably.  If I wore this casually, I’d probably wear strappy sandals with a leather jacket and if I wanted to dress it up, I’d wear pointy pumps and a statement necklace.

So for the nail art, I first painted my nails with 2 coats of Essie Smokin’ Hot (a charcoal with a purple undertone).  After the base color was completely dry, I used 3 strips of metallic nail tape towards the tip of my nail as a stencil to create two crisp lines.  In the gaps that the nail tape created, I painted OPI Haven’t the Foggiest (a metallic pewter) and after that layer was dried, I peeled off the tape and painted Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat over it.

That’s it!  SUPER easy that even I could do it.  🙂  If you saw this dress, what kind of nail art would you do?
