Finally, San Francisco has an ULTA. No more driving down to Daly City, this ULTA is right smack dab in the middle.
Located in the same area as Target on Geary and Masonic, this ULTA is huge and has a full service salon.
I got invited to its soft opening and while there weren’t an insane amount of people in the store yet, I could tell that the people who were browsing were seriously intrigued.
It just so happened to be my birthday that day, so I decided to treat myself to a gel manicure by OPI, a blowout + trim, and Benefit brow wax.
First off, I got a manicure with the GelColor by OPI (LED cured). Believe it or not, it was my first EVER gel manicure! The manicure process wasn’t a traditional one, the manicurist (L. Marie) just polished and filed my nails (no soak or nail cutting).
The color selection was pretty limited but I was told I could mix shades to get the color I wanted. I decided to stick with this glittery deep indigo.
I enjoyed and was fascinated by the entire process, I finally got to see what all the hype was about with gel manicures!
The manicure managed to stay chip free for about a week until I decided to change my nail color. My nails grow quickly as well, so I was bothered with the nail growth. Even though I liked the idea of gel cured nails, I’ll still stick with conventional nail polishes.
Next, I got a Bombshell Blowout and a minor trim. Karen, the hair stylist, used all Redken products and gave me advice on how to properly care for my hair (particularly my bleached ends). I was in need for a layer refresh, so I was pleased with the end result! L. Marie quickly curled my hair with a flat iron and I was left with bouncy waves.
Lastly, I got my eyebrows waxed at the Benefit Brow Bar. I haven’t gotten my eyebrows waxed in about 5 years, but since I’ve been growing them out, I needed a reshape.
I’ve been dealing with uneven brows for quite some time (a big thank you to my teen years for over tweezing and now my hair doesn’t grow back all the way), so Wendy (the brow expert), mapped out my face. She did the best she could to make them as even as possible, but I still have to do some filling in to get them to look even everyday.
Besides ULTA’s salon services, I mainly visit ULTA for a more extensive drugstore makeup selection. I find that they carry more items and newer collections that I can’t find at regular drugstores and I love that I can just hop on over to the other side for more high-end makeup items.
For a full list of their salon services, visit the ULTA website for more details (hello coupons and discounts) and if you live in San Francisco, don’t forget to visit!
