Pantone Color of the Year 2015: Marsala
Milani Baked Blush Rose D’Oro | Revlon Lip Butter Red Velvet | City Color Be Matte Francesca
It was announced not too long ago that the Pantone Color of the Year 2015 is Marsala. To be honest, I was not expecting this shade since past colors were on the bright side. If you don’t remember Radiant Orchid was 2014, Emerald the year before, and Tangerine Tango was the year before that.
Marsala is an earthy reddish tone that’s more subdued than the previous shades but I can already see the versatility that this color has. I’ve reached for this type of shade in my collection many times before when I used to do wedding makeup – it’s flattering on many types of skin tones and although it has a reddish hue, I consider it to be a neutral. In the beauty world, you can take this shade as it is or take inspiration from it and go a little lighter. Although cheeks and lips are the obvious choice to use Marsala with, I’m really excited to use it on the eyes. I think adding just a touch of Marsala to a cool toned brown smokey eye would look so pretty.
If you’re looking for makeup in Marsala, Sephora already has a page full of Marsala-esque shades and I’ve already fallen in love with so many.
Are you excited about Marsala?

This color is so pretty! I would never have thought of using something so red for blush, but that Milani blush is gorgeous! I’m gonna have to experiment with this color for 2015!

If you visit Sephora’s Marsala page, they included a bunch of makeup products that have that Marsala tint to them and are more muted in color. See if those shades will suit you!

I am so flippin’ excited about Marsala! To be honest, the 2014 Radiant Orchid was just a little too meh for me, I don’t know why. Besides, I think this color suits the 90s trend in some way, right? 🙂 Xx
