Gloss Meets Matte

I have to admit, I’ve never been a fan of the matte nail trend until now.  I’m kinda old school like that, I like my nails the glossiest they can be, so when the matte trend came out, I never really understood it.  Since I’m trying incorporate more nail art into my nail routine, I decided to combine the matte and the gloss and I’m quite happy with the effect.

The matte nail polish I used here was the Pixi Nail Colour in Matte Black.  The formula was quite thick, almost dried out (even though it’s brand new and just came out!), so I had to add quite a few drops of the Zoya Renew to thin the polish out a little.  In the end, it was still really thick, but much more manageable.  When the polish dries, it dries to a matte finish, so I added polka dots using Seche Vite.  I did it quite messily, so all my dots are different sizes, but from far away, I think it looks nice.

If you’re looking for a matte nail polish to try, I suggest just using any old nail polish you already have and applying a matte top coat.
