Pur Cosmetics Cameo Contour Stick Review & Swatches (c/o)
I have to be honest with you, I haven’t mastered the art of cream contouring yet. I find powder a lot easier to control but I’ve been practicing with Pur Cosmetics Cameo Contour Sticks.
This product comes in 5 shades: Light, Medium, Tan, Dark, and Deep. Each contour stick has a contour and a highlight in stick form, making it easier to precisely apply the product onto the face. A pink sponge is also included with the product to help blend the product into the skin.
There are also skin nourishing ingredients like Ceratin Complex and sodium hyaluronate that help to plump, smooth, and renew the skin.
Unlike other cream contours I tried, Pur’s has a cream to powder to finish, which I find a little easier to blend. However, it was almost too easy to blend and found that the product would disappear into the foundation too much. I had apply, blend, and then apply again to get a sharper contour.
I guess it’s all about preference, if you like your contour a more natural, this one is easy to blend.

The included sponge is very similar to the beautyblender, but with a flattened surface on the side. I guess because I’m not an exactly skilled with applying the cream contour, it was difficult for me to use the sponge to blend. The effect I got was muddled and I ended up using my fingers to get it to how I wanted it. However, using the sponge to blend in the highlighter was easy.
To apply this contour, I swiped it along my hairline and jawline, and in the hollows of my cheeks. After that was blended (using a combination of the sponge and my fingers), I used the highlighter below my cheek hollows (for a more defined contour), on the tops of my cheeks, and down the bridge of my nose.
I ended up choosing the shade Tan and I’m not exactly in love with the shade either. I found the contour slightly too warm and the highlighter pretty much matched my skin tone. I tried using Medium, but the shades were way too light for my skin tone. For a more highlighted effect, I’ll have to either skip using it under my eyes (under my hollows, the shade was perfect) or add a powder shimmer highlighter on top.
Because the product is cream to powder, I experienced some breakage in the product and in the application. Such a bummer, so if you have it, make sure to seal the product tight!
I know contouring is not to everyone’s taste, especially since I love the Kardashian’s contour, so please take my application tips with a grain of salt — do whatever makes you feel best. For me and my preferences, using the Pur Cameo Contour stick was too much effort to get it to where I wanted it. Until I master cream contouring, I much prefer using my Lorac PRO Contour Kit and my highlighting concealers.
What’s your preference on contouring? Do you like a sharp contour or more natural looking?
The Pur Cameo Contour Stick is available for $39.50 at PurMinerals.com, Ulta, and Amazon.

These look really nice! I use the Bobbi Brown foundation stick in Almond when cream contouring, but just like you I tend to use more contour powders and am trying to get more into cream contour.

It’s tough!!! I’m going to really challenge myself and try to use these more often, but what ends up happening is I get frustrated with the cream contours and end up falling back into powders haha.

I’ve yet to try a foundation stick; I always see Nikkietutorials using the MUFE ones, but I haven’t tried one. They look amazing for mixing colours, contouring and highlighting too though. I love a good multi purpose item.

They are a good multi purpose item (especially for travel), if only I was really good at using them!
