Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette Swatches & Review (c/o)
Urban Decay’s Naked franchise just got bigger with their latest palette: Naked Smoky.
This palette includes 12 shades: 9 new and 3 exclusive shades, all of which are pretty neutral for a smoky eye look. Password, Whiskey, and Combust are matte, Thirteen and Black Market are satin, and the rest are all shimmers.
A dual ended brush is included (love UD brushes), which have bristles to make blending away easy and the palette comes with a sheet of “looks” to help you make the most of all the colors (perfect for those who are smoky eye challenged).
The smoky transparent packaging is also something new to the collection and is still quite durable to house UD’s buttery shades.
As always, Urban Decay‘s pigmentation and texture did not disappoint. It applied velvety smooth with hardly any blending at all. Of course, there is the fallout that UD is well-known for, so have your primer (I used the UD Primer Potion) and makeup wipe ready with this palette.
I thought each of the shades were well-thought out and created a really cohesive collection of colors. But because I’m such a nude/brown eyeshadow lover, the brown shades were the first thing I examined. The browns didn’t lean too cool or too warm, but I do wish there was a transitional medium matte brown shade (I feel like this is my major wish for most palettes these days), especially for a smoky eye.
Compared to the other Naked palettes, I think this one is a nice change from all the nudes. At first glance, the Naked Smoky has very similar shades to the NARS NARSissist Palette, but I think this one is 10x better with a larger variety of smoky shades and spot-on shimmers. If you’re a smoky lover like me, you’re gonna love this palette too.
Available for $54 at Urban Decay, Sephora, Ulta, Macy’s, & Beauty.com on July 8, 2015.
For a chance to win this palette before the release date, Urban Decay is giving away a Smoky Palette on their IG, head over to find out details!

hahaha, I have a list like that on Sephora.com. Pretty dangerous since I can easily add those in my cart….

Your swatches of this look amazing and I kind of want it now, but I never wear smokey eyes so I know I won’t get a lot of use from this 🙁 I’m waiting for the day they bring out a purple eyeshadow palette! xx

OMG YES!!!! I’d jump on that too!

Oh gosh, this is actually so lovely. I originally didn’t want it, but since really looking at the shades I’ve realized how much I would actually use it. Otherwise, I only have the first Naked palette, so it would be a great addition.

Yes you should! I own all of them and the first Naked is still my fave and this comes in at a close 2nd.

I like the idea if this palette but the blue colors throw me off as they’re something I’d only wear to go out. Do you think this could be toned down for everyday wear?
The Beauty Vanity says
Probably only a couple of shades. I did use it for an everyday look using dirtysweet and radar, but the natural looks are def more limited with this palette.

Cannot wait to get my hands on this!

It really is!

It looks really beautiful, although I’m not sure if I’m crazy about this one. I’m a bit more picky with my smokey shades. But who knows, maybe if I see it live I will fall for it like I tend to do haha! Great swatches and review, Alyson! X

Naked 2, definitely! <3

Same! Naked2 has my heart!

You’re so lucky to already have a change to review this! I’m so torn on whether I want to purchase this palette. I generally prefer lighter tones, but then I don’t have anything like this in my collection. I was still hoping the next Naked palette was an all matte palette, but in a variety of colours, instead of just the nude basics palette.

That’s a good idea actually. UD is known for the really shimmery shades, but I know it divides a lot of people…I mean, they already came out with a bunch of products in their Naked collection, I’m sure they’ll come out with more.
Jackie says
Why do all these shades seem so sheer in comparison to the Naked or Naked2. I felt Naked3 was pretty sheer, but those colors are too beautiful to deny. I like Smolder and Whiskey and the other shades throw me off a bit. Naked2 is by far my favorite of this series. And the Basics smaller palette as I am a true matte lover.
