Got a big date this upcoming weekend? Or just want to say goodbye to crusty dry winter lips?
I’ve got a good hack for you.
I used to buy lip scrubs, but it can get SO expensive to buy a tiny little tub and honestly, it’s a cinch to make. All you need is a good lip balm and some sugar.
To celebrate the release of the Vaseline Lip Therapy Tins in the US, the folks at Vaseline were so kind enough to send me a scrumptious chocolate cake and a few Lip Therapy Tins to try.
Especially in the winter, I’ve got really dry lips and there only seems to be a few lip balms that really heal and last long on the lips without being too greasy. These Lip Therapy Tins fit the bill perfectly and have been so handy to have this time of year.
To prime my lips for my lip scrub, I like to slather on some lip balm onto my lips for at least 5 minutes. I chose Cocoa Butter because it paired better with the brown sugar, but you can use any Vaseline Lip Therapy Tin flavor.
You can also do this before you apply your makeup so by the time you’re done, the dry patches will be softened and easier to scrub off.
Next, I mixed a little sugar with the lip balm to create a small amount of scrub to apply onto my lips. I use firm pressure while I scrub to make sure all the dry flakes are gone.
I find this hack super useful when I need to wear a matte lipstick or liquid lipstick, which seem to highlight all my dry patches. Does anyone experience that too?

After my lips are all smooth and flake-free, I wipe off the scrub and apply more for some extra moisture. I always like to apply lip balm before lipstick (even matte liquid lipstick!) to make it comfortable for me to wear throughout the day.
Here, I used Rosy Lips for a really sheer tint of color. I just find this a little more flattering on my lips since my lips are so pigmented and if you have a date coming up, it’s a good touch-up lip balm to have in your purse, just in case your lipstick wears off. Plus, my bf prefers it when I wear lip balm vs. lipstick/lip gloss. 😀
The Vaseline Lip Therapy Tins are available NOW in 4 variants (Original, Cocoa Butter, Aloe, & Rosy Lips) for ~$3.99 at Target.
Let me know if you try this hack or if you’d like me to do more!

The Vaseline pots are great, I have a stash in my drawer! I make my own lip scrub too using brown sugar and coconut oil, which works really well 🙂
