Ciate London Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slick Review & Swatches (c/o)
More liquid lipsticks! I hope you guys aren’t tired of liquid lipsticks yet, it seems like every brand, drugstore and high-end, are coming out with liquid lipsticks. I’m thinking about doing a roundup of my faves, what do you think?
Ciate released new shades in their Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slicks range, which claim to have lip conditioning benefits with high pigmentation.
Kiss Me Quick | Wonderland | Pin Up
The range has a good mix of shades, both wearable and bold. Kiss Me Quick is way too light and cool-toned for me, but Wonderland and Pin Up were more wearable. Well…Wonderland is a smidge light for daywear, so I have been mixing Pin Up and Wonderland together.
Fast Lane | Head Over Heels | Voodoo | Envy | Chatterbox
The bolder shades worked great with my skin tone and I really love these types of shades for summer. With shades this bright, I think it’d be perfect for the upcoming festival season.
Now, there’s a very very VERY slim chance that I’ll wear Envy, but I do appreciate that they are trying out the more trendier shades like NYX and ABH. Have any of you tried out any blue or green lipsticks? Although I see them on IG and YouTube, I’m curious to see if people actually wear it out!
The texture of the lipstick feels whipped and it’s really easy to apply, all thanks to the applicator. One coat was all I needed and it dried matte pretty fast.
I do have to warn you though, these liquid lipsticks dry super matte.
As always, I applied a lip balm before the liquid lipstick and even with that extra step, my lips were really dry looking. Especially with the lighter nude shades, every wrinkle and dry patch was highlighted, but with the bolder shades, the dry patches were harder to see.
I’m still on the fence about these lipsticks because of how dry they set, but it stayed on my lips for 3+ hours. I saw some transfer when I drank coffee, but even so, the color was still vibrant.

Like I said earlier, the applicator is the main reason why it was so easy for me to apply. The flat and wide doe foot helped to spread the product over a larger surface area and the curvature helped to conform to my lip shape without any streaks. I also loved that I could apply the lipstick from both sides of the applicator. By far, this is my favorite applicator for liquid lipsticks!
The Ciate London Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slicks are available for $19 in 13 shades at Sephora and CiateLondon.com.
