The Superbowl is coming!
I admit I know next to nothing about football. But what I do know is that I love hanging out with friends and family on Superbowl Sunday. It’s the funny commercials that keep me going! Anyone remember last year’s Hyundai commercial with Kevin Hart? Totally reminds me of my dad during my high school days. hahaha
One of my favorite party snacks has got to be an onion dip. You know, the one where you mix sour cream or mayonnaise with an onion soup mix? It’s almost at every party I go to and it’s usually the one that gets finished first.
After doing some research, it’s SO easy to create a healthier version. Since I’m seeing the results from eating healthier, I’m determined to find ways to make classic recipes healthier, especially if my bf is around! In this recipe, you’ll be able to control how much salt goes in and know exactly what is in your dip. Say it with me, #saynotosaltbloat!
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium diced onion
1 teaspoon Himalayan pink salt
1 1/2 cups vegan sour cream or cashew sour cream
3/4 cup Best Foods Vegan Carefully Crafted Dressing (tastes just like mayo, your friends won’t know the difference!)
Pinch of ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or a grated half garlic clove
[one_half padding=”0 5px 0 0px”][/one_half]
[one_half_last padding=”0 0px 0 5px”][/one_half_last]
DIRECTIONS
Add onions, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and olive oil in a saute pan over medium heat and cook for 20 minutes until caramelized. Remove from heat and cool.
Mix the remaining ingredients and then add onions.
Chill before serving.
Serve with your favorite dippers and enjoy!
I decided to bake my own corn tortillas for a healthier alternative, but a bag of tortilla chips or crudites would work perfectly. Are any of you going to watch the game? My bf takes football very seriously, so we’ll be having a party at the house and yup, I’m going try to serve healthy snacks, including this one!
Talk soon!
