Yup, everything is Instagram goals.

I’m constantly on Yelp bookmarking places to visit and this one has been on my list for a while now. Like most Millennials, I’m a sucker for a good Instagram picture and as soon as I saw Teaspressa’s account, I knew I had to visit. It has everything I look for in a cafe: it has good reviews on Yelp, cute decor, and an awesome Instagram.
So last month, I had the chance to meet the founder (there’s an interview coming soon!), and as soon as I got off the plane, I headed straight to the cafe to check this place out.
More after the jump!

Since 2015, Allison DeVane, the founder of Teaspressa, was inspired to make coffee-inspired tea drinks after experiencing headaches after drinking too much coffee. She wanted to find a way to still enjoy caffeine, so she created her own tea, a concentrated tea drink that contains as much caffeine as an espresso shot but still provides the health benefits as traditional tea.

Coming from the SF Bay Area, I initially thought Teaspressa would be very similar to the many tea shops I can find on every corner, but I was completely wrong. Teaspressa is steering away from the boba-route and instead doing its own thing. You can even add “beau-tea” shots if you’re looking for extra health benefits from charcoal or turmeric.
For those who are new to tea drinks or are coffee drinkers only, I think Teaspressa is a great segway into the tea world. Just like at a coffee shop, you can ask for lattes, cappuccinos, cold brews, etc. Even if you don’t order a drink, it’s worth stopping by to appreciate the interiors and shop the cactus-loving gifts.

I ended up ordering a drink that Allison suggested off the secret menu, which was an iced milk tea drink with rose petals on top. I could really taste the black tea flavor in the drink, something that I don’t really taste when I go to a typical boba shop. The drink was quite delicious and refreshing in the 100 degrees heat, but for next time, I’ll ask for a less sweet drink.
My suggestions? Ask about the secret menu and don’t be afraid to ask questions about the flavor profiles of the tea and like any good tea shop, be vocal about the amount of sweetness you want in your drink.
If tea isn’t entirely your thing, you can order coffee, toast, and little bites. Just like the cafe, the drinks are very Instagrammable too.
