The struggle is real.
The false lash struggle is real for those of us with monolids, or small, hooded eyes. It’s especially rough if you have stubborn, straight lashes that refuse to hold a curl. I’ve worn many a pair of lashes in my day, and have found quite a few pairs that flatter smaller, hooded eyes without weighing them down!
Natural Lashes
These lashes never let me down. I wear these lashes when I want a little something extra. They’re natural enough to wear every day and are extremely flattering on my eye shape. Because they’re wispy, they allow for my eye makeup to still be seen, which is a huge plus.
ARDELL
CLUSTER DEMI WISPIES
The Texture No. 117 lashes from Eylure are really similar to the Ardell Wispies. I love how the lashes have a kind of criss-cross pattern giving them a natural look. They’re also extremely lightweight and comfortable.
EYLURE
TEXTURE No. 117 LASHES
I love shopping for lashes at House of Lashes because they’re still pretty affordable, and they make both “mini” and “lite” lashes. The lite collection features softer, subtler versions of their classic lashes. The Demure Lite lashes are a fantastic option for a natural looking lash that still adds length. They also have a criss-cross pattern in addition to flared out ends, both of which are very flattering on smaller eyes.

Glam Lashes
Finding the right glam lash for monolids/hooded eyes/smaller eyes is important. You don’t want to look like you have caterpillars on your eyelids, but you still want to look glam. I get it.
These lashes are marketed as being more natural lashes, but these are definitely a little more on the dramatic side for me. I love the way the ends flare out and how fluttery the lashes are. These lashes are a little longer on me, making them more apparent than the previous lashes I’ve mentioned. They’re very comfortable and give that silky mink lash effect without actually being mink.
EYELURE
LUXE FAUX MINK BAROQUE LASHES
The Iconic Lashes from House of Lashes get a lot of hype, as do the lighter version of them. The Iconic Lite lashes are longer towards the outer part of the eye and get shorter towards the inner part. They have a more intense criss-cross pattern, giving a slightly spiky effect. I love to wear these lashes when I’m going out, or when I have heavier eye makeup on that can withstand a more dramatic lash.
HOUSE OF LASHES
ICONIC LITE LASHES
The Mini Collection lashes from House of Lashes are scaled down versions of their traditional lashes – they tend to have the same density, but have shorter bands and shorter lashes. They, too, have a criss-cross pattern (can you tell I like that?) and are longer towards the middle of the eye instead of the outer part. These lashes are great if you want to add volume without length.

BOUDOIR MINI LASHES
Remember to trim your lashes to fit your eye shape before wearing them. This will make a huge difference in how natural the lashes look and how comfortable they feel.
