There’s nothing classier than having a signature scent. That aromatic vibe, a memory of you, that lingers long after you leave.
I’ve become an avid collector of perfume bottles and sample perfume sprays over the past year. I love the way that a scent can instantaneously click with a person and evoke a certain mood that brings happiness or peace of mind. I used to think that within the spectrum of fragrances, there were only sweet florals and masculine musk. However, these brands that I want to share with you all today have transformed the way I view a fragrance.
Byredo
The Instagram cult favorite. Byredo has a cult following for a reason. All of its fragrances are unisex and very unique–unlike anything I’ve ever smelled. The best way to describe a Byredo perfume is fresh and spicy. Byredo perfumes have a bit of a zing to it that fades nicely into the background. My favorite being Gypsy Water, which has a tendency to disappear a few minutes after I apply it. However, ever so often, I’ll catch a whiff of that vibrantly sweet spiciness that I can’t get enough of.

Voyage et Cie
Indie & affordable. I picked up a bottle of Voyage et Cie’s perfume oil in “Opera – Reve de Vanille” from The Reformation a few months ago. I love the formulation of this perfume. I feel like it’s very long-lasting since it’s a perfume oil, yet it dries down completely. Voyage et Cie has a different take on the classic vanilla scent. I get a faint smell of cinnamon or nutmeg whenever I wear Opera. It’s grown-up, sexy, and very wearable. The perfect scent for the winter season. Also at $40, I’m definitely picking up a few more.

Glossier
Comfortably “You“. I jumped on the Glossier perfume train earlier this month and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. “You” is that clean, warm floral scent that you’ll find yourself reaching for daily. Its scent is similar to the Chloe perfume yet less sweet. The warm musk differentiates it from most floral perfumes out on the market. It feels cozy and really becomes a part of you. Don’t believe me, pick up a sample with your next Glossier order.

Ellis Brooklyn
Nearly fiction. I had been eyeing this brand for awhile now and finally picked up the Bibliotheca sampler from Sephora. While a few of the fragrances were quite similar, Sci-Fi, Raven, and Fable really stood out to me. Sci-Fi is sweet and fresh. The citrus and green tea notes really steal the show with this one. Raven is dark and mysterious, as the name suggests. Fable is a pure honeysuckle scent. My mom really loves the smell of honeysuckle, so this perfume is really nostalgic to my childhood when I used to rummage through the perfume bottles in my mom’s medicine cabinet. Last thing to note: Ellis Brooklyn perfumes last forever. I would apply this the day before and the next morning when I wake up, I’ll still catch a faint smell of the perfume. It’s truly impressive.
