It’s that time of year again.
When I think of Holiday makeup, red lipstick instantly comes to mind. It’s so festive and it’s pretty much a no-brainer look when you have a million Holiday parties to attend.
Because it’s such a bold color, choosing the right shade and finish for you can be a challenge. The general rule is – if you have a warmer undertone, wear warmer-toned reds (reds with a yellow or orange tint), and for those who have a cooler undertone, wear reds with a blue-ish or pink-y undertone. Texture and finish is all up to preference – do you like matte finishes? Satin? Glossy? For me, it all depends on the look I’m wearing or how long I need to wear the red lipstick for, but ultimately, it’s all up to you to rock that red!

The orange-reds can look a little scary, but I think this color is fun when you’re bored with the same ol’ red lipstick. While I would normally wear this when I have a Summer tan, I think it’s equally pretty during the Winter like this look Shay Mitchell wore here.
The medium deep reds are my favorite to wear since I find them the most flattering with my skin tone without it looking too “loud.” I know, reds are quite bold already but I think the dark reds and the orange-reds are more of a statement on me than the medium deep reds.
The formula for all three 100% Pure lip products are for the most part good. The Pomegranate Lipsticks are really pigmented, moisturizing, and are pretty forgiving if you struggle with dry lips.
As mentioned in my Lip Caramel review, these lip glosses are pigmented and vibrant, but some of them can be quite streaky, like the Plum Wine. I’d say this is probably the most high-maintenance since you will have to keep track of the gloss wearing off or getting all over your mouth at parties.
Lastly, the Cocoa Butter Matte Lipsticks are a big winner for me. You only need one swipe and although they don’t set, the matte finish is really really comfortable on the lips. I don’t feel like my lips will shrivel up with this formula, which is important when you’re at a Holiday party drinking, eating, and mingling with others.
