Only two more days till Christmas!
What are you most excited about this weekend?
I’m pretty much going to be lounging and eating all day with my family on Christmas and I CAN’T WAIT.
I’m currently in San Diego spending time with my bf’s family until tomorrow and I’m going to try to shut off. UGH, it’s so hard! At least with the Christmas break, my inbox won’t be as busy and I’ll get to do some planning for 2017. Feel free to email or leave me a comment below to LMK what type of content you’d like to see! More makeup tutorials? More outfits?
Anyway, back to Christmas….
When it comes to family events (especially when it involves eating, ha!), comfort is everything. I’m sure most of us can agree on that right? For me, that means stretchy jeans/leggings, a loose sweater, a tote to throw everything in, and OTK boots.
I’ve been into lace up tops for a while now and I just love that it adds a little bit more interest to an ordinary sweater. It has a relaxed fit and is longer in the back so you can wear it with leggings. I actually got mine off of Amazon! FYI, it’s one size fits all (I’m usually XS) and I found it pretty baggy and shorter than I expected. Here’s a similar sweater that’s 40% off at ~$30.

Most days you’ll see me running around with a tote – I can just throw everything in there (aka my whole life and hide some gifts in there too!), so I like wearing totes that are minimalistic and are made of high-quality leather. I’ve learned early on that not all totes are made equally and I ended up replacing them frequently because it couldn’t handle the wear and tear.
My three favorite leather totes are from Rebecca Minkoff, Cuyana, and SwanDoe. I mentioned SwanDoe in my gift guide and what I love about her totes are that they are reversible! I ended up using the almond side of this tote, but I equally love the orange side too. Keep your eyes on this brand because she has a bunch of new designs coming out in the new year at affordable prices too!

As for my boots, I honestly cannot live without these. They’re so comfortable to walk in and it makes every outfit that much more stylish. As someone who is not even 5 feet tall, anything that elongates my legs is a big winner. Did I mention how comfy they are too!?
Here’s one for a little over $50.

My makeup is also kept pretty simple. With families, I don’t like to go all out, everyday effortless makeup is exactly what I like to wear. Let me know if you want a tutorial on this, I wore a bunch of plum tones from the tarte Tartelette Palette and my lips were from Sola Look.

Alright, I’m off to get ready for a double date at Herb and Wood in SD. Anyone been there? Do you guys have any recommendations while I’m in SD? Although I used to live here, there are so many new places that are popping up!
Have a great weekend and Merry Christmas!
xoxo,
Alyson
